People make mistakes and I’ve always found it gross, demanding that people lose their jobs for mistakes, regardless of the sincerity of their apologies.

This writer alluded to the bad behavior of her colleagues at the USA Today as means of undressing their hypocrisy. If her account is to be believed, the USA Today only sought to punish her when an angry, online, right-wing mob demanded she be “canceled”.
