Hello Mr. Crawford,

First, let me thank you for taking the time to read my post and provide constructive criticism. It’s much appreciated.

While I understand there are those who would defend Clinton and Obama, I do believe that praise for the last two Democratic presidents is the dominant narrative amongst Democrats, and as such, I preferred to challenge that narrative. I’m not one to believe there is an equally sound position on both sides of every argument, and in this case, I clearly come down on one side, and as such wanted to express that position.

I’m aware that the common retorts to criticisms of Clinton's presidency are that “it was a different time”, and that of the Democratic Party as a whole, is “but look how bad the Republicans are”.

I just don’t see those as being satisfactory justifications. I think after 3 presidential cycles of losing, Democrats in the 90’s prioritized winning above all else, and weren’t going to cross a president who had managed to win, no matter how problematic his proposed legislation was.

And in relation to Republicans, well, there corruption and at times monstrous behavior, for me at least, is no excuse. If anything, it just provides a way for Democrats to escape responsibility by diverting attention away from their own failings. And yes, I think their failings are entirely their own, and not at all because of Republican malfeasance.

At any rate, thanks again for taking the time to read my piece.

Take care.

-Benin
