At the time this article was written, every national poll showed Bernie Sanders winning every demographic of voters, with the exception of people over the age of 65. Biden always polled quite favorable with that demographic, and very poorly with all others. That wasn’t my opinion, it was an observable fact for those objective enough to recognize it; i.e. not the media.

With Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar dropping out and endorsing Biden, along with Rep. Beto O’Rourke and a sleu of Democratic Senators, current and former, also choosing to endorse Biden, the establishment, after having marked Biden’s campaign for dead, chose to rally around the only remaining viable establishment candidate. The developments after South Carolina reflect the power of the Democratic establishment as well as the tendency of middle-class suburban voters to float from establishment candidate to establishment candidate at the behest of the establishment.

Also, in case you’re curious, Biden’s record is anything but “left-leaning”. Should he win the Democratic nomination, his long history of campaigning to reduce social security benefits, his vocal support for NAFTA, his contribution to the student debt crisis, and his opposition to making it more difficult for working-class Americans to file for bankruptcy, will be used against him in the general election by Trump. Let us not forget about his vote for the Iraq War.

It would appear we’ve seen a similar scenario play out before in 2016, and while I’d hate to burden you with facts about Biden’s record, Trump will relish the opportunity. I’m sure, given Biden’s stellar public speaking skills, he will be adept at deflecting those attacks ;) In the event Trump is re-elected in 2020, a bubble that will surely be busted will be the one created by the Democratic establishment’s willingness to repeat history.
